For the chant of the armor of mars, Sage is Kasyapa, Meter is Anushtup, the god addressed is Mars, The chant is aimed at pleasing the son of earth,
ध्यानम्/dhyānam
रक्ताम्बरो रक्तवपुः किरीटी चतुर्भुजो मेषगमो गदाभृत् । धरासुतः शक्तिधरश्च शूली सदा मम स्याद्वरदः प्रशान्तः ॥
raktāmbaro raktavapuḥ kirīṭī caturbhujo meṣagamo gadābhṛt . dharāsutaḥ śaktidharaśca śūlī sadā mama syādvaradaḥ praśāntaḥ ..
Let he who wears the red cloths Let he who is of red color, Let he who wears a crown, Let him who has four hands, Let he who travels on a goat, Let him who is armed with a mace, Let him who is the son of earth, Let him who holds the Shakthi and spear, Be always pleased with me and bless me.
अथ अङ्गारक कवचम्/atha aṅgāraka kavacham
अङ्गारकः शिरो रक्षेत् मुखं वै धरणीसुतः । श्रवौ रक्तम्बरः पातु नेत्रे मे रक्तलोचनः ॥ 1 ॥
aṅgārakaḥ śiro rakṣet mukhaṃ vai dharaṇīsutaḥ . śravau raktambaraḥ pātu netre me raktalocanaḥ .. 1 ..
Let mars protect my head, Let my face be protected by the son of earth, Let my ears be protected by he who wears red, Let my eyes be protected by the red-eyed one,
नासां शक्तिधरः पातु मुखं मे रक्तलोचनः । भुजौ मे रक्तमाली च हस्तौ शक्तिधरस्तथा ॥2 ॥
nāsāṃ śaktidharaḥ pātu mukhaṃ me raktalocanaḥ . bhujau me raktamālī ca hastau śaktidharastathā ..2 ..
Let my nose be protected by he who holds Shakthi, Let my face be protected by the red eyed one, Let my hands be protected by, he who wears red garland, And let my arms be protected, by he holds the shakthi.
वक्षः पातु वराङ्गश्च हृदयं पातु रोहितः । कटिं मे ग्रहराजश्च मुखं चैव धरासुतः ॥ 3 ॥
vakṣaḥ pātu varāṅgaśca hṛdayaṃ pātu rohitaḥ . kaṭiṃ me graharājaśca mukhaṃ caiva dharāsutaḥ .. 3 ..
Let the blessed one protect my shoulders, Let my chest be protected by red coloured one, Let the king of planets protect my belly, And let my face be protected by son of earth.
जानुजङ्घे कुजः पातु पादौ भक्तप्रियः सदा । सर्वाण्यन्यानि चाङ्गानि रक्षेन्मे मेषवाहनः ॥ 4 ॥
jānujaṅghe kujaḥ pātu pādau bhaktapriyaḥ sadā . sarvāṇyanyāni cāṅgāni rakṣenme meṣavāhanaḥ .. 4 ..
Let my hips and thigh be protected by Mars, Let my feet be protected by he who is dear to his devotees, And let all the other organs be protected by he who rides the goat.
फलश्रुतिः/phalaśrutih
य इदं कवचं दिव्यं सर्वशत्रुनिवारणम् । भूतप्रेतपिशाचानां नाशनं सर्वसिद्धिदम् ॥
ya idaṃ kavacaṃ divyaṃ sarvaśatrunivāraṇam . bhūtapretapiśācānāṃ nāśanaṃ sarvasiddhidam ..
This holy armour kills all our enemies, Destroys ghosts, ghouls and devils, And blesses us with all powers.
सर्वरोगहरं चैव सर्वसम्पत्प्रदं शुभम् । भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदं नॄणां सर्वसौभाग्यवर्धनम् ॥ रोगबन्धविमोक्षं च सत्यमेतन्न संशयः ॥
sarvarogaharaṃ caiva sarvasampatpradaṃ śubham . bhuktimuktipradaṃ nṝṇāṃ sarvasaubhāgyavardhanam .. rogabandhavimokṣaṃ ca satyametanna saṃśayaḥ ..
There is no doubt that the truth is that, This armour cures all sorts of diseases, Blesses us with all sorts of wealth, Grants us devotion and salvation, Increases our luck at all times, And releases us from the control of diseases.
॥ इति श्री मार्कण्डेयपुराणे अङ्गारक कवचं सम्पूर्णम् ॥
.. iti śrī mārkaṇḍeyapurāṇe aṅgāraka kavacaṃ sampūrṇam ..
