The Vishnu Sahasranama from the Anushasana Parva of the Mahabharata contains 1000 names of Lord Vishnu — each a complete mantra, each a complete universe. Transmitted by Bhishma to Yudhishthira on his deathbed, it is one of the most recited texts in the Bharatiya tradition.
