Dhyanam
Puja should begin with the meditation of Deep-Deva. Chant the prescribed Mantra while meditating on Deep-Deva.
भो दीप! ब्रह्मरूपस्त्वं ह्यन्धकार-विनाशकः । गृहाण मया कृतां पूजाम् ओजस्तेजः प्रवर्धय ॥

PADACHEDA

भो दीप-ब्रह्म-रूपः त्वम् हि अन्धकार-विनाशकः गृहाण मया कृताम् पूजाम् ओजः तेजः प्रवर्धय! । ॥

ENGLISH MEANING

O Sacred Lamp! You are the embodiment of divine light, the destroyer of all darkness and ignorance. Accept this worship of mine and may your brilliance enhance strength, energy, and spiritual radiance in my life.

TRANSLITERATION

bho dīpa-brahma-rūpaḥ tvam hi andhakāra-vināśakaḥ gṛhāṇa mayā kṛtām pūjām ojaḥ tejaḥ pravardhaya! . ..

Upachar 2

Pushpanjalih
After meditating on Deep-Deva, chant the prescribed Mantra while worshipping Him. Take three flowers in both palms (in Anjali Mudra) and place them near the Deepak.
ॐ दीप-वृक्षाय नमः ।

PADACHEDA

ओम् दीप-वृक्षाय नमः ।

ENGLISH MEANING

Salutations to the Divine Tree of Light

TRANSLITERATION

om dīpa-vṛkṣāya namaḥ .

Upachar 3

Prarthana
After worshipping Deep-Deva, offer respect to Deep-Malika (the lamp stand) while chanting the prescribed Mantra.
शुभं करोतु कल्याणमारोग्यं सुख-सम्पदम् । मम बुद्धि-प्रकाशं च दीप-ज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तु ते ॥ शुभं भवतु कल्याणमारोग्यं पुष्टि-वर्धनम् । आत्म-तत्त्व-प्रबोधाय दीप-ज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तु ते ॥ दीपावलिर्मया दत्ता गृहाण त्वं सुरेश्वरि! अनेन दीप-दानेन ज्ञान-दृष्टि-प्रदा भव ॥

PADACHEDA

शुभम् करोतु कल्याणम् आरोग्यम् सुख-सम्पदम् मम बुद्धि-प्रकाशम् च दीप-ज्योतिः नमः अस्तु ते शुभम् भवतु कल्याणम् आरोग्यम् पुष्टि-वर्धनम् आत्म-तत्त्व-प्रबोधाय दीप-ज्योतिः नमः । ॥ । ॥ ! ॥

ENGLISH MEANING

O Divine Flame, I bow to you! May you bring auspiciousness, good health, peace, and prosperity, and illuminate my intellect with wisdom and clarity. O Radiant One! I offer this row of lamps to You with devotion. May this act of lighting lamps bless me with the vision of true knowledge and inner enlightenment.

TRANSLITERATION

śubham karotu kalyāṇam ārogyam sukha-sampadam mama buddhi-prakāśam ca dīpa-jyotiḥ namaḥ astu te śubham bhavatu kalyāṇam ārogyam puṣṭi-vardhanam ātma-tattva-prabodhāya dīpa-jyotiḥ namaḥ . .. . .. ! ..
