Read about the purana which tells you everything about the supreme diety and lord of entire creation, Lord Shiva.
The Shiva Purana is a sacred text that predominantly focuses on Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati but also pays respect to all the deities in Hinduism. It is said to have originally contained 24,000 verses written in seven Samhitas. However, it is believed that the Purana was later condensed and composed by Romaharshana.
The Shiva Purana covers a wide range of topics across its chapters. It delves into cosmology with a central focus on Lord Shiva, explores various mythological narratives, delves into interpersonal relationships, ethics, yoga, sacred journeys (Tirtha), devotion (bhakti), and provides information about rivers and geography.
The first Samhita (book) of the Purana discusses the greatness, significance, rules, regulations, and advises against not listening to the Shiva Purana.
The Shiva Purana is divided into seven Samhitas or compendiums, each serving a specific purpose:
These seven Samhitas collectively form the Shiva Purana. This divine Purana, comprising these seven Samhitas, holds a position of great significance, similar to that of Brahman, and promises the highest spiritual attainment.
It is said that someone who recites the entire Shiva Purana, without omitting any of the seven Samhitas, can be considered a Jivanmukta, a liberated living soul.
